London, England

Overview

The Savoy Hotel, a London landmark, is renowned for its history of luxury, innovation, and attracting notable guests. It was the first purpose-built deluxe hotel in Britain, opening in 1889. Richard D’Oyly Carte, a theatrical impresario, built it with profits from his Savoy Theatre. The Savoy was a pioneer in introducing modern amenities like electric lighting throughout, electric lifts, and en-suite bathrooms.
